Participants in World IPv6 Launch include the four most visited websites in the world – Google, Facebook, YouTube, and Yahoo! – as well as home router manufacturers and Internet Service Providers in more than 100 countries. IPv6 Status Update from the iHub

Dear all, Today I conducted some conclusive tests regarding accessing IPv6 content (mainly websites) from users who work at the iHub. iHub is now an IPv6 zone and when you come around on June 6th, you should be able to access IPv6 aware content online. *World IPv6 launch Breakfast organized by the Internet Society Kenya Chapter * *Press Release* *31st May 2012*** * * The Internet Society Kenya Chapter is organizing the World IPv6 Launch breakfast at the I Hub on June 6 2012 from 8 am. to 11 am. This is a global launch date for IPv6 supported by the Internet Society, all the major technology players like Google, Microsoft, and Cisco, as well as governments and companies like Face book, Yahoo, and many more who are adding support for this new technology. Obviously this is something that has been in the making for many years, and last year there was a 24 hour global IPv6 test flight with quite a number of top 1000 websites that clearly showed that the switch will be perfectly safe. With IPv6 being the 'new normal,' and now that IPv4 address supplies have run out globally, there is real economic need. The specific requirements for participation in the various categories of access networks, home routers, and websites are as follows: For access networks a commitment to make IPv6 part of their regular business is required. This means new subscribers get IPv6 on by default from June 6th 2012 and no special user configuration required to access the IPv6 Internet. To enable verification of progress towards this goal, access networks are also required to be delivering 1% of visits to major IPv6-enabled websites over IPv6 by 6th June. The level of IPv6 usage depends on the IPv6 capabilities and configuration of home networks, so the enabled customer base needed to be greater than 1% to reach this target. Measurements are being made by the major website participants to verify meaningful participation. The second category of participant is home router vendors. Again the requirement is that IPv6 become part of regular business. This means a majority of products shipping with IPv6 on by default, meaning no user configuration is required to use IPv6. The University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab (UNH-IOL) provides independent verification of IPv6 interoperability. Finally, websites wishing to participate are required to permanently enable IPv6 access to their main website, meaning IPv6-enabled users can now access their content over IPv6 without any additional configuration. The Internet is for everyone. Greetings and I hope you are all very well. Kindly find attached the invitees schedule to date. I have picked from the various conversations as the names and institutions have been thrown in. I would require the contact information - emails will be especially useful to enable us reach them once the program is completed (Paul/Barrack/Charles/Liz - Monday 28th May, the final program should be out so that we give the Guests till Wednesday 30th to give their confirmation. This list does not include the list of ISOC members attending. Anyone else you know whom we should invite as a Guest? Who is a stakeholder in the "Internet World of Kenya?" Their contacts will also help us alot. Q: Is there an association for cybercafes or a representative body?
