Hello all,
Congrats and thanks to all who took time to prepare the draft bylaws.
@McTim, the by-laws seem to have been to a large extent copy pasted from the
ISOC New york chapter bylaws - hence the featuring of the term 'Executive
Committee' which should have been edited out to read 'Board of Trustees'.
Anyways, ISOC provides a template for chapter by-laws here :
http://www.isoc.org/isoc/chapters/guidelines/bylaws.shtml, which should be
used by the working group doing the bylaws because it requires inclusion of
some mandatory phrases to the chapter bylaws document.
I like the structure that has been outlined in the template i.e offices-
chair, vice chair, secretary (we can opt for an assistant secretary), and
treasurer (we can also opt for an assistant treasurer as well); and then the
overall executive council/committee consisting of the officers, exoficio
officers, standing committee members and we can opt to include other
internet stakeholders here such as government, media etc. The membership can
be classified as individual members and organizational members and even
student members if we want to catch 'em while they are young.
BR,
Brenda

Dear Listers,
During our last meeting we established two working groups one on the Chapter
formation process and another one on membership. Chapter Formation was to be
led by McTim and at this juncture we would wish to request him to direct us
on the next steps, for membership we also request Judy and Tim to tell us
what is required, i have a draft copy of bylaws which i will circulate on
the list. It was prepared by a member John Njoroge, your comments on the
same are welcome.
